My studio philosophy is to foster a lifelong love of music and improvement in skills in a supportive and encouraging environment, no matter the student's skill level or future musical plans.

Online lessons are available via Zoom!

In-person lessons are available for vaccinated students.

I will wear a mask during lessons (except when needing to show embouchure placement or to play an example) as an extra precautionary measure. As weather permits, I have the windows open and a ceiling fan on. I also have an air purifier in the house. While I'm not requiring masks for vaccinated students and caregivers, you are welcome to wear them as you see fit.

I teach clarinet and bass clarinet lessons from beginner on up (4th grade to adult) and piano lessons (beginner, 4th grade to adult) in the Crystal Lake, Illinois area. I have a Bachelor of Music in theory and composition from Ohio State University (1997) and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2005). I work as a musician and librarian and live with my husband and three cats.

Some features of my studio:

  • The first lesson is free. This is a chance to see if we want to work together.
  • I am reliable. I rarely cancel lessons, and then only for emergencies.
  • I am flexible. While weekly lessons are typical, I also have students with other schedules.

My rate is $25 for a 30-minute lesson. I can also accommodate 45- and 60-minute lessons (inquire for cost). I typically give weekly lessons, but will work with other schedules. Please feel free to contact me via the contact form.
